I had an hour to kill and noticed this was opposite my hotel so decided to go take a look.
The tour starts with a short video being played explaining the tours story line including a cartoon guest (I’ll try not to spoil).
You are then guided through various processes of chocolate making…
******please don’t read on if you don’t like spoilers******
The tour starts at the bean stage, the guide we had was very funny and made the tour engaging the entire time.
The first sample given is a sugar coated cocoa bean which was actually quite yummy!
The next stage explains the history of the bean and how it became popular with a king? A drink made from the bean, hot water and some spices is then handed out to sample, again I have to say I enjoyed this…
The tour continues to show how the beans are turned into what we now know as chocolate with various fun tasks along the way and some more delicious samples to be had.
At the end of the tour we could then create our own chocolate bar for an additional $5, you pick the chocolate type (dark, milk or white) and then 3 toppings. I chose Rice Krispies, Marshmallows and spice… it was absolutely delicious!
The tour is well put together, it’s aimed at kids with it’s fun cartoon element but also quite quirky for us adults.
I ended up purchasing a number of chocolate items at the end of the tour including chocolate soda (not nice ha ha), chocolate syringe – yep it’s a large syringe filled with chocolate, coco beans and tea leaves.
If you have time to spare you should definitely stop by this place!
