Hotel/Motel: Travelodge by Wyndham, San Francisco North, California
First and foremost, let me just say when I give an overall rating it’s based on what that hotel tells me it will offer i.e. if it’s a 5* resort I expect 5* treatment, if it’s a 2* budget motel then I expect a bare minimum.
The hotel was easy to get to from SFO airport especially with the free shuttle bus offered.
The hotel reception area looked clean. My check in seemed to take a little longer than it would normally, not an extended period, around 10 mins but that’s quite long I book with hotels.com and in every other hotel they never take any longer than 2 mins from greeting me to directing me to the lifts/elevators.
As well as the check in process taking a while, the girl helping me would make comments to the other guy behind the desk, I was too tired from my flight to really listen to them but they were saying things like oh she’s the one and then staring at me.. now I know this is perhaps petty, and I did just ignore it, but as a welcome to a hotel it seemed extremely unprofessional to discuss a customer in front of them without actually acknowledging in the conversation.
That aside… I had room 104 which overlooked the swimming pool.
My room was absolutely fine for my one night stop over stay, the room was clean and offered all the amenities I think most people would require for a short stay.
The amenities were:
A huge bed, it could easily have fit 3 adults in without touching elbows (I didn’t actually try that, but the bed was lovely and wide).
2 X Bed Side Tables
Tea/Coffee Facilities
Sink & Shower Room (Shower looked a little tired but not unusable)
TV with a games controller (didn’t use controller but would assume there’s a fee to use it)
The hotel had said the wifi was only available in the Lobby area, I’m not sure if this has now changed or if I was just near enough to the lobby but I had no problem accessing the wifi from this room.
The hotel included complimentary continental breakfast which was offered in a small room, the room was far too small for the number of people in there, it seemed like a bit of a grab and go to me and so wasn’t at all enjoyable just for the sheer not being able to sit and enjoy it.
The breakfast items themselves were nice though, bread (toast), cereals, Porridge, Pastries, Fruit, Juice, Tea and Coffee… all were good to start the day, so I would think had the hotel not been so busy it would have been quite nice.
As well as the breakfast there is an Ihop attached to the hotel which I used for dinner on arrival (perhaps this is for another review) but the staff were really friendly, helpful (I’m a veggie ihop newbie) and the food was good.
Personally if your in a position to I’d recommend grabbing breakfast in IHop instead of the hotels… or both.
Overall my bed was comfy, I could freshen up in the morning and I was able to grab a decent breakfast before my lunchtime flight the next day. I’d recommend this if your looking for a stop over and on a budget, any longer than a ‘stop over’ and I think you’d probably be more comfortable elsewhere.
