A Tour of Antigua

A Beautiful Tour of Antigua

We made the decision to take a tour of Antigua as soon as we arrived.

As we walked up through the port shops we noticed a large group of tour/taxi drivers.

A man called Elvis approached us, told us where we would visit on the tour which all sounded amazing so we took him up on the offer and then waited for a few more parties to join us.

We were told there would be 2 or max 4 other people joining us… sounds good to us.

20 minutes later we were ready to get on the bus and we made the short walk to the bus.

As we made our way we were told that Elvis would not be taking us but that a driver called Glen Miller would be driving us.  I’m still trying to see if their names were made up!  Oh and we ended up with a full bus of 12 people.

A Market Stop

We stopped at a little market area with a variety of hand made items, paintings and more.  The market also sold ice cold drinks where we picked up a delicious fruit juice drink… so good in fact I would almost take a quick trip to buy another.

We found a pretty purse with a matching mirror with images of Saint Maarten and the turquoise sea.

From here we made our way to an area that overlooks Nelson’s Dock, this is in a National Park an area that charges a fee.  A fee we would have gladly paid but sadly everyone else on our tour didn’t want to so we had to give that a miss.

Luckily, there are still beautiful views of the dock below that can be seen from outside the park.

As we made our way through the beautiful island of Antigua we saw a Sugar Cane Factory, Janets Village, and of course beautiful scenery.

We made a short stop to see views of a beautiful bay, hotel and beach below that was simply stunning with such vibrant colors.

To add to this picturesque imagery the island offers.  There are beautiful tiny little butterflies everywhere.

Before our tour ended, we made a final stop at Darkwood Beach where we of course enjoyed the compulsory ‘dip in the sea’.

Next time we’ll definitely be sure to head inside the National Park.

We had a fabulous tour and Glen Miller was certainly a fun and friendly driver.
