A fun tour of Aruba with Kuku Kunuku Tours
On December 28th we took one of our most favorite Caribbean tours with Kukoo Kunuku!
We grabbed our maracas and shook along to the music as we made our way out of the port area.
Aruba is a very very windy island 19 miles long and 6 miles wide with a population of 120,000 people.
80,000 of those people are not originally from Aruba and the remaining 40,000 were born in Aruba.
The official language on the island is Dutch however everyone speaks English and Papiamento which is a creole language.
Tiny Church in Aruba
Our first stop was to a tiny Catholic Church, surrounded by stunning Mexican fence cacti plants and and the ocean in the background.
The church has a number of white concrete benches outside for church goers and a small amount of seating inside.
An absolutely beautiful setting.
Coconut Smoothie at the California Lighthouse
Our next stop was to the California Light House named after an SS ship that sank just off the coast in Aruba.
The light house is beautiful and you can pay $5 to walk to the top at a total of 116 steps.
More deliciously there is a food truck at this location selling various foods, ice cream and most importantly milk smoothies.
If there’s one thing you should do in Aruba it’s to try one of the Coconut Shakes at the California Lighthouse. Apparently, if you ask for ‘double sugar’ they’ll add rum.
It’s quite frankly the most delicious drink in the universe.
As we made our way around the island we were lucky enough to take in the beautiful scenery Aruba has to offer.
It really is windy
As mentioned before, Aruba is an extremely windy island. Which means there is lots of wind surfing to do or watch.
Relaxing in Palm Beach
After a wonderful and fun tour of the island we made our way to palm beach for our stay at the beach.
Our tour included free sun beds and we had 2 and a half hours to enjoy the area.
The beach was perfect with a number of restaurants to enjoy lunch or dinner.
There were also a number of small stores selling souvenirs and clothing, lockers to keep your valuables and a beach rental area to enjoy beach sports.
We had a few hours so we left our relaxing session and took a walk around the nearby area.
As we made our way to the shops, we saw a beautiful man made waterfall and an iguana taking in some sun by a hotel pool.
Just a few minutes walk away were many shops including a beauty store, Tommy Hilfigure, Zara, Starbucks and more.
Once our time at Palm Beach came to an end we jumped back on the fun bus and headed back to the port.
How good was Kukoo Kunuku?
Kukoo Kunuku was so much fun and is definitely recommended by us.
Aruba is One Happy Island and we hope we can visit again soon.
